Renowned for its Michelin Star restaurants, Lyon’s acclaimed chef Monsieur Marcel Mariscos has prepared a special evening menu featuring freshly caught fish - the Rhône trout. Guests can also opt for a fantastic breakfast menu served from 7am - with final departures from the train at 8.30am.
It will operate at 300 km/h and refurbished Duplex trains painted in a luxury purple livery. Inspired by OUIGOs reuse of double decker trains in Spain, and also OBB’s recent innovations with its Night Jet service, there will be a mix of sleeping accommodations from double rooms, family rooms, and private Japanese-style sleeping pods.
Connecting services
Geneva (3h), Frankfurt (6h) and Paris (2h) are within reach by train, from Lyon.
Málaga’s coast has its own Cercanias rail line. Day trips to Ronda, Granada & Cordoba are enjoyable.
“Whilst working on ToTravelTo.com’s European train trip planning and booking site, we realised that what is lacking is a service connecting the two great cities of Lyon and Málaga.” (Founder, Ian). “After the inaugural service, we will quickly expand to running 3 times a week, with further expansion options for the Summer months.”
We have been inspired by Elmer of European Sleeper, who achieved their dream of connecting 4 capital cities by night train, and the blog from Midnight Trains.

Further Details
"Creating the perfect dining experience for this magnificent journey has been a passion project for me. We've curated a menu that harmonises with the rhythm of Spanish dining, embracing the late hours and the zest for life that is so quintessentially Spanish. For April, a special month that sings the praises of spring, I'm particularly excited about our trout fish course. Sourced from the freshest catches, it reflects both the bounty of the Rhône and the culinary creativity that diners expect from a Michelin-level experience. This dish, among others, is designed to enchant our guests, making their travel not just a journey, but a celebration of European gastronomy." - Chef Étienne Marcel Mariscos, noting his excitement about the curated dining experience aboard the train, especially the April fish course.
